Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit to Richmond County Criminal History, including reading its material and using a search feature. Continued use means that you accept all terms below. If you do not agree, discontinue access to the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with a local, New York State, or federal government body. Neither this site nor an advertising partner offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The material identifies public criminal-record resources for Richmond County and New York. This is neither a private-investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, operated independently from government. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve them for visitors, run an official check, or submit papers for anyone.

The material directs readers to NYPD record channels, Richmond Criminal and Supreme Court clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, custody systems, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. New York Freedom of Information Law procedures govern covered agency records, while Executive Law §837 controls DCJS criminal-history functions. An outside search service may also appear, subject to its own terms.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with site access or degrade its performance for others
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or another automated collection tool against these pages
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system, account, or data
  • Use site content for housing, employment, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Violate federal, New York State, or local law through the site

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site or linked-tool information may be used to intimidate, threaten, stalk, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. Misuse may be criminal. New York's Sex Offender Registration Act, Correction Law Article 6-C, governs the New York State Sex Offender Registry, which serves public-safety awareness. Registry information cannot be turned into vigilantism, harassment, or prohibited discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit files, or official background checks. Advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant screening, rental review, insurance rating, or credit decisions. You must not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Make another decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a government program, license, or permit
  • Set insurance terms or evaluate creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a housing or rental application
  • Make an employment decision

A legally permitted FCRA use requires the correct official or FCRA-compliant provider and all required consent and process. Do not use this website or its search widget for that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Richmond County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed New York attorney can advise how a pending charge, conviction, warrant, fine under Penal Law §80.00 or Penal Law §80.05, or a record-sealing rule applies to a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All material is provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • An outside search provider's result will be complete or correct
  • Pages will contain no bug, error, or security weakness
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • Every statement is current, complete, and accurate at all times

Criminal records change as charges are filed, amended, dismissed, or sealed. New York's Clean Slate implementation can also change public visibility. Gaps and delays are unavoidable, and no page should be treated as an official statement by NYPD, a Richmond court, DCJS, or another agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, NYPD, New York State agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search companies. Those destinations are independently operated. This site does not control their content, availability, fees, or data practices and accepts no responsibility for them. Review a destination's own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, logos, graphics, and code belong to Richmond County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is not liable for damage arising from its use, including reliance on material found here or through a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use or your violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms may be posted at any time and become effective when published on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay in effect. The affected language will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
