About Richmond County Criminal History

Richmond County does not follow the usual sheriff, county jail, and local police pattern. Records for Staten Island are divided among the New York City Police Department, the Richmond criminal courts, New York City Department of Correction, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. We built this private reference site to make that local split clear and route readers to the official portal, clerk, records unit, or phone line that holds each type of information.

Why We Built This Site

New York offers several distinct record channels, but none is a complete Richmond County name search. NYPD holds police reports, NYC Department of Correction maintains city custody data, and the Criminal Court and Supreme Court clerks keep case files and dispositions. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services provides fingerprint-based review of a person's own state record, while the Office of Court Administration runs separate public court-history tools. The New York State Sex Offender Registry and state corrections locators add still more systems. This site organizes the official contacts, access rules, request steps, and documented fees without treating those sources as interchangeable.

What You Will Find Here

  • Local record routes: where Staten Island police, booking, court, and state history information is kept
  • Case research: how to use the Richmond County court case lookup and obtain a disposition from the proper clerk
  • Official self-review: how fingerprint-based DCJS review differs from an OCA court search and the federal FBI electronic request route
  • Record sealing: which Richmond sentencing court receives a New York sealing application and how Clean Slate differs

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site with no affiliation to New York courts, NYPD, NYC Department of Correction, DCJS, or another government body. Its role has firm limits:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file record-sealing motions, records requests, or other paperwork on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot promise that a listed office hour, fee, phone number, or address has not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as an NYPD records unit, a Richmond court clerk, or DCJS, can issue or certify it. This site can identify the route, but it cannot supply the document.

Search Partners

Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, prices, and privacy practices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee for this site, which helps support public access to the reference material. We do not set partner charges, assemble their results, or certify that their data is complete or current.
